Photosynthesis is the process of producing carbohydrates by green plants using CO2 and H2O in the presence of sunlight.
It is a two-step process light reaction and dark reaction
Photophosphorylation
In light reaction, addition of phosphate in the presence of light is called photophosphorylation.
Cyclic photophosphorylation The photophosphorylation occurring an cyclic electron transport called cyclic photophosphorylation
1. Only photosystem I is involved
2. The active reaction centre is P700
3. Electrons travels in a cyclic manner
4. Electron travels back to PS I
5. Only ATP is produced
6. Photolysis or water splitting is absent
7. Oxygen is not evolved
8. The system is predominant in bacteria
Non-Cyclic photophosphorylation The photophosphorylation occurring a non-cyclic electron transport is called non cyclic photophosphorylation.
1. Both photosystem I and II are involved
2. The active reaction centre is P680
3. Electrons travels in a non-cyclic manner
4. Electron from PS I is accepted by NADP
5. Both ATP and NADPH are produced
6. Photolysis or water splitting is present
7. Oxygen is evolved as a by-product
8. The system is predominant in green plants
It is a two-step process light reaction and dark reaction
- Light reaction takes place in the grana of the chloroplast where light energy is converted to chemical energy as ATP and NADPH
- In dark reaction, the energy produced in the light reaction is utilized to fix CO2 to carbohydrates. The location of dark reaction is stroma of the chloroplast
Cyclic photophosphorylation vs Non Cyclic photophosphorylation

1. Both photosystem I and II are involved
2. The active reaction centre is P680
3. Electrons travels in a non-cyclic manner

5. Both ATP and NADPH are produced
6. Photolysis or water splitting is present
7. Oxygen is evolved as a by-product
8. The system is predominant in green plants
Simple, straight forward and educational. Well done, this really helped me! :)
ردحذفgrt notes
ردحذفthis page is usefull when v need cmprehensive but short answers!!!!
ردحذفThanks
ردحذفThank you so much, big tests with little review call for notes like these... Everyone should simplify notes this way!
ردحذفThis is very clear and concise. Thank you! :)
ردحذفeasy to make out and remember.
ردحذفgreat! found it very useful and simple, thank you)

ردحذفVery helpful
ردحذفthanks!! awesome
ردحذفvery short but informative, and quite useful for quick grasp
ردحذفis there any difference in the site of cyclic and non-cyclic photophosphorylation?
ردحذفGreat, simple and to the point. Excellent for a quick understanding of whats going on.
ردحذفThanks.very much helpful
ردحذفNice
ردحذفSoo helpful
ردحذفthank u
ردحذفsimple and easy
You blessedt my life with this. Thanks!

ردحذفVery usefull points.
ردحذفSimple and understandable ☺😊
ردحذفWow so simple and understandable ☺
ردحذفIt is an excellent short note.Indeed helpful. Thanks a lot.
ردحذفIn NON cyclic phosphorylation the NADP* is comes from where
ردحذفSimple, very understandable.
ردحذفExactly what I looking for.thanx alot
Simple,very understandable.
ردحذفExactly what I looking for.thanxalot.
very much understandable even for low caliber students...well described.
ردحذفThank you.. It was the most effective explanation I had till now..
ردحذفBeautiful, very simply put
ردحذفgood one ... explained very well .

ردحذفvery easy to understan
ردحذفPrecise. Thanks a ton!
ردحذفNicest!! It is understandreble I like it!!!
ردحذفNicest it is understandable I like it
ردحذفThanks. Very useful material. Its great!
ردحذفGreat!!!!
ردحذفExcellent way of explaining. Short and informative.
ردحذفVery helpful :)
ردحذفOh my god it is good n simple
ردحذفThank you so much !
ردحذفFantastic and just like spoon feed
ردحذفUr answer was like a cake walk kor remember me ...... Great
ردحذفUr answer was like a cake walk kor remember me ...... Great
ردحذفVery well presented and makes things very easy to study! But can somebody answer this? ATP is a very unstable compound and needs to be used up almost immediately after it is produced. Given that, how do organisms performing cyclic photosynthesis survive overnight?
ردحذفthanku
ردحذفMuch helpful
ردحذفThnkxx..✌
This is very useful. Thank you for these concise, clear differences
ردحذفThes notes is very easy to understand...thank you
ردحذفthis helped me
