Element

• It is a pure substance that cannot be further changed into a simpler form

• Hydrogen, oxygen, helium etc are examples

Compound

• Is a substance formed by the combination of two or more elements in a definite and reproducible way.
  
  
• Water (H2O) is an example where element Hydrogen and oxygen are combined in the ratio 2:1.
