Green Manure
1. It is a quick growing crop, cultivated and ploughed under, to incorporate it into the soil.
2. It provides organic matter as well as additional nitrogen, particularly if it is a legume crop.
3.It is helpful in maintaining soil form, aeration and hydration.
4.It exercisers a protective action against soil erosion and leaching.
Example: Sunhemp, Horse gram, Cow pea, Sweet clover, Lentil etc

Biofertilizer
1. Biofertlizer is a micro organism.
2. It brings about nutrient enrichment of the soil.
3. No such function is attributable to a biofertlizer
4. Symbiotic and non symbiotic bacteria increase the nitrogen content of the soil.(Cyanobacterial biofertilizer may be helpful in overcoming alkalinity and prevent soil erosion. Ectomycorrhiza may increase the surface area of absorption.)
Example: Bacteria, Cyanobacteria (Blue green algae)
