Collodial systems may also be classified as lyophobic (Solvent hating) and lyophilic (solvent loving) sols.
Lyophobic sols are those which cannot be obtained again by the addition of a dispersion medium, once the dispersed phase is precipitated.
 Lyophillic colloid particles

In lyophilic sols, the dispersed phase is not easily revert to  the colloidal state on addition of the dispersion medium.

They are less stable and get coagulated by adding electrolytes by heating or by agitating. They are quite stable  and are not easily coagulated by the addition electrolytes
They are prepared by indirect methods which are not so easy. They are obtained by simple solution methods.
They are obtained form inorganic materials such as metals, metal sulphides, metal hydroxides etc. They are obtained form organic materials such as starch, gum, gelatin etc.
They are unstable and hence require stabilizers They are self stabilized.
The particles are not solvated. The particles are solvated.
